lodgings
Is moving to Sweden from USA a good idea?

Basically im an average joe, with no money really and no education…I really want to move to another country for a while. Sweden seems to be the best for my tastes.

Would I be able to find work? and lodgings etc.. please share your thoughts.

It’s a good idea, Sweden is great, but it’s *not* a realistic prospect.

The problem is that you are *not* allowed to move to Sweden or any other European country. You may visit as a tourist for a short while but no more.

If you want to live and work here you would have to go through a long process to apply for a residency visa and work permit.

We don’t hand out work permits unless you are -highly- educated and -very- experienced. We are only open to highly skilled professionals (engineers, doctors).

And a European company would have to sponsor any application, and they don’t do this for an “average Joe”. The company would have to prove that no European citizen could fill the position.

Also we have a lot of unemployment now, and you would be the last in line. European citizens, from the whole Continent (EU), are prioritized by law.

Any job in Sweden requires -fluency- in Swedish, English alone will not do.

You can basically forget about it.
