Looking for my Roots Posted 2/18/2006 11:53:30 PM by Billy Ellis (Charm) I was born in Greensboro but after my Dad was killed Ed Ellis (Sonny) my mother Kate Ellis (Tootsie) move me and my sister to Newark, NJ. I just trying to find someone who know my family tree on either my Father side (Ellis) or my Mother side (Mitchell) any information will be helpful Inclusion Posted 3/1/2006 1:54:48 PM by Maurika L. Hobson Southern Academy isn't the only school in Greensboro--there are 3 of them, all K-12. It would be nice to see Greensboro East (my alma mater) included, as well as Greensboro West! Inclusion II Posted 3/3/2006 2:00:03 PM by Ovetta Hobson (Regensburg, Germany) I think this is a great website that shows the beauty of our "little piece of heaven" in west Alabama. Though the city has progressed significantly, it has still managed to keep it's southern charm and quaint, small-town flavor. However, I must echo the sentiments of Maurika L. Hobson (a third generation alumnae of Greensboro East), that Greensboro's Public schools are missing from the site. I am a second generation alumnae of Greensboro East, as my Mother is a first generation alumnae, (when it was known as "Hale County Training School.") Please do try to include the "landmarks" that have educated many and help to define the true essence and history of Greensboro. Your family tree! Posted 6/5/2006 6:39:53 PM by Mattie Ford I think I am your aunt Mattie. I was your father's sister. To confirm this please call 1-334-624-0296. Thanks very much! I never been to Greensboro But will visit soon Proud To Have Been A Raider Posted 9/8/2006 9:33:25 PM by Edwardo Wilson Hi, I'm a graduate of GPS - West (class of 1981), and I couldn't resist the opportunity presented by this site to post a comment. I'm very glad to see this website up, and my hope is that it will continue to operate. I live in South Carolina now, but my life in Greensboro is remembered fondly. I had good friends (both black & white) that I shared many great times with. One such event was when Mike Clary and I did the song "Proud Mary" in the 6th grade talent show and won 3rd place. I also played football with some of the greatest guys ever. There are memories I have from my years there I'll never forget. If anyone who reads this would like to contact me, feel free to email me at: Greensboro- Youth Football pictures Posted 11/1/2006 2:18:58 PM by Shelia Martin Does anyone have a picture of the (age 7 team-) youth football games that were played in September of 2006? I am looking for any pictures that have Cameron Lathum in them. Greensboro's Website Posted 7/11/2007 9:11:45 PM by Rita Hamilton Bibbins It's great to see this website. This gives me the chance to see my little hometown via the web. It really brings back memories of growing up in Greensboro. And though not much has changed, it is still refreshing to see the progress of being online. There are improvements that can be made to the site; however, this is a great start. Like others have stated, I would love to see pictures of my alma mater, Greensboro East Campus and pictures of African American churches, businesses, etc. as well. Keep up the good work! Great site, but still has room 4 improvement Posted 8/9/2007 4:34:53 PM by Derrick Franklin I really like this site and its very nice and I agree with some of the other posters about caputuring more shots of the other schools and show pictures of what goes on in the community like high school sponsoed, like football and basketball games. It would be nice to see pictures so show all sides of diversity in Greensboro. Photos? Information? Posted 9/25/2007 2:33:56 PM by Mary Ellen Johnson Hi, Southern Academy football Posted 11/1/2007 9:58:58 AM by Pam I grew up in greensboro but now live close to auburn and in talking to someone the other day learned of the fact that southern academy had a rather impressive football year and being my alma mater can't seem to find anything pertaining to it on the school's website or the towns. I am quite surprised there is no mention of how well they have done this year. I also agree there should be some pictures of the public schools. I attended them for 11 years and they are a part of the town. there are more beautiful homes there that are also no shown. I love Greensboro!! Posted 11/10/2007 10:06:56 PM by Friend This past summer I travelled to Greensboro to work with Rising Star Baptist Church on a mission trip. Looking at all these pictures bring back so many memories and images from my visit. I love this little town and I miss it so much! The people who live here, at least all of the ones I encountered were the nicest people I know, and I miss and love them all. So if any of you to Rising Star, give the congregation my thanks for such hospitality and tell everyone that everyone from Wheaton that stayed at the church misses it and misses everyone there. We love you! I pray for ya'll every day and I hope that God is providing you the resources to make your ideas for the church and the community a reality! singing mayor Posted 1/20/2008 8:41:08 PM by Rod Walker I've heard that mayor Vanessa Hill is a good country singer. Does anyone have any links of her singing? There's no place like home! Posted 3/4/2008 9:46:59 PM by Mary Hobson Thanks for sharing the pictures; however, I would love to see pictures of my alma mater, Greensboro East Campus. Please share/post pictures of African American community. Go Raiders!
